What happens at Church
Our Sunday services are designed to include everyone, and you’ll find teaching for people of all ages. What to expect on a Sunday
Sunday morning 10:30am
In the main church
Please do join us this Sunday you’ll be made very welcome, and we’d love to get to know you. Our services are designed to include everyone, and you’ll find teaching for people of all ages.
Our services are usually made up of singing, praying and listening to Bible talks where God’s Word is explained. No one will ask you to read or pray, and if you don’t want to sing, that’s fine. During our Bible talks, God’s Word is explained and applied in clear and simple terms.
Sunday evening 6:00pm
in the Church Hall
We also meet together in the evenings each Sunday; these services are a bit different to the morning.
We meet in the church hall, where we listen to a short talk and then spend time in prayer.
Every month or so, we have a special focus on a ministry the church is involved in or an organisation we support.

Top tips for coming to church
- When you arrive, someone will greet you, don’t be afraid to ask them for help. Where are the toilets and can I have a Bible are two very common questions!
- Remember, there is no dress code and everyone of all ages is very welcome!
- You also don’t need to be a Christian to join our services. If you do have questions about Christianity, then coming to a service and talking to people is a great way to find out more.
- If you need a Bible, there should be some at the end of each pew or there are plenty at the back of the church that anyone can use.
- No one will ask you for money! At Calne Free Church we do not pass around a collection box. For those who attend regularly, there are static collection boxes at the church entrance. Regular attendees can find out more about supporting the church financially here.
Top tips for coming to church with children
- Children are an important part of our community.
- Junior Church for primary school-age children runs during the morning service.
- All our church staff and volunteers working with children have DBS checks. You can find more about our child protection & safeguarding policy.
- The children don’t need to sit perfectly still during the service and you can bring them colouring or a book to read if that helps!
- We have a creche in the hall that has a video link, so you can still hear the service.
- During the service, we lock the side gate of the church for safety and security.
Other activities
During the week, many of us meet together in small groups for more fellowship; we call these small groups ‘Growth Groups’. These meet in someone’s home; they are a great way to deepen our faith and make great friends.
We have lots of other activities on during the week for children and adults – please find more on the activities page.
Services online
The best way to experience church and connect with our community is to come in person, but if you want to check us out first, our Sunday services are streamed on YouTube.
You can find our archive of old sermons or this week’s livestream here.
