A major part of moving home is finding a church that is right for you and where God's word is being preached. If you come along to a service at Calne Free, you can be sure you will receive a warm welcome and will hear God's word. I'm sure you have many questions about the church and our services. We have tried to answer some of these below, but please do contact us if you would like to find out more about the church.
Are you considering moving to Calne or have you just moved in? If so, welcome to the area! Calne is a great place to live, in a really beautiful part of the Wiltshire countryside. The town is very well connected, with the main train line to London just 10 minutes away, the M4 less than 30 minutes away and a wealth of attractions and amazing sites within easy reach.
What happens at your services?
Our main services are at 10:30am and 6pm. While there are specific things we do at special times of the year (like Christmas or Easter), all our services tend to include the following:
We sing together a variety of songs, from the contemporary to the traditional
We are led in corporate prayer
We have a short time for church family announcements
We hear the Bible read to us, and then explained in a talk (lasting around 30 minutes)
Every few weeks, we share Communion
After the morning service, there is the chance:
to pray in confidence with the pastor
to meet others for refreshments
to find out more details of events and groups
Is there a dress code?
There is no dress code! The principle is to come as you are. In all we do, we seek always to be accepting and respectful of others.
Can I bring my children?
Of course! All ages are always welcome at Calne Free Church. We run Junior Church, for children aged 3-11, during the Sunday morning service. Older young people are encouraged to stay in the main service, and sermon-question sheets are provided for them. All the volunteers leading our children's groups have gone through the necessary Criminal Records Bureau checks.
